How to get started with Itqan114, how each part of it works, and what to do when something goes wrong.
Itqan114 follows your Quran recitation word by word as you recite: it stops you at the word you get wrong so you can say it again, then writes you a report of what you got right and where you slipped, and keeps your progress surah by surah.
It also has the mushaf for reading, with tafsir; listening to well-known reciters; memorization and review plans; position tests; and competitions. Teachers get circles and assignments, institutions get a dashboard to manage their teachers and students, and parents get the “Family” page.
This page walks through each section step by step. If something goes wrong, start with “Troubleshooting” at the end: every problem comes with its cause and what to do, and under it a button to write to us.
Getting started
When you sign up you choose your account type, and the app opens what suits it. The bar has four sections — “Quran”, “Listen” and “Recite” in the middle, plus your main section — and everything else is under “More”. Here are the first steps for each type.
Student
Choose “Student” on the sign-up page, enter your name, your email and a password of at least eight characters, choose your country and accept the Privacy Policy. The app then opens “My journey” for you.
If your teacher or institution invites you to a circle, you’ll find the invitation in “My journey”: accept it to join. Your membership doesn’t start until you accept.
If your teacher created your account for you, a code valid for fifteen minutes arrives in your email: open “Forgot password?” on the sign-in page, enter your email, the code and a new password, then sign in and accept the invitation. If the code has expired, request another one from the same page.
Open “Recite” in the middle of the bar, choose a surah, press the microphone button, then recite from anywhere in it.
In “My circle” (under “More”) you’ll find your assignments, your teacher’s announcements and your ranking in the circle, and you hand in an assignment with a recitation session of your choice, or without one.
Choose “Regular user” when you sign up, and you get recitation, reading, listening and plans in full, with no circle and no teacher. The app opens “My journey” for you.
Recite a surah in “Recite”, then read its report to see every word that was counted against you, and why.
Set up a plan in “My plan” (under “More”) that spreads memorization or review across your days, one day at a time; what you recite ticks it off.
In “My journey”, go over the words you keep getting wrong, and the surahs that are due for review.
And if you’d like a teacher you trust to see your progress, invite them from “Account sharing”.
Choose “Teacher” when you sign up: the “Teacher” panel appears in the bar in place of “My journey”, and “My journey” stays under “More”.
In “My students”, add a student by email: someone who already has an account gets an invitation and becomes your student once they accept it; for someone without an account, enter their name as well, and we create an account for them and email them a code to set their password.
Create a circle in “Circles” to group your students, so you can give them an assignment or an announcement all at once.
Check “Submissions”: “Approve” closes the assignment, and “Return to student” tells them it needs redoing.
If you teach at an institution, search for it in “Join” and send a request for its administrators to review, or accept its invitation there.
Choose “Institution” when you sign up, then create your institution in the “Institution” panel with its name and type: school, center, association, independent, or circle.
Invite your teachers from “Teachers”, and the people who run it with you from “Administrators”, each by their account email. Nobody’s role starts until they accept the invitation.
Create circles in “Circles”, and pick the teacher in charge of each one.
Add students in “Students”: the student’s email, their teacher, their circle, their name if they don’t have an account, and their guardian’s email if you wish.
Keep track of the institution’s figures and student activity in “Overview”, and of what is waiting for review in “Assignments”.
Choose “Parent / Guardian” when you sign up, enter your name, email, password and country, and your phone number if you wish, then open “Family”.
Press “Add child”: create a new account for them and accept the Privacy Policy on their behalf, or link their existing account with its email and password.
Set their consents: camera, recording for review, attention tracking, and how long their recordings are kept. All of them are off until you turn them on.
Every circle or follow request your child accepts waits for your approval in “Family”, and doesn’t start before you give it.
From their card in “Family”, keep an eye on their sessions, progress, repeated mistakes, plans and saved recordings.
Open “Quran” from the bar to read the Madani mushaf, all six hundred and four pages of it, in its familiar script. You need to be signed in to your account to read.
Move between pages with the previous and next page buttons or by swiping the page with your finger, and between surahs with the previous and next surah buttons or from “Surahs” and its search; or type a page number in “Go to page”. The page’s juz and hizb are shown above it.
From the reading bar, choose a “Layout”: “Mushaf” shows the page as it is, “Ayah by ayah” shows it as cards. Make the text bigger or smaller with “Text size”.
“Focus mode” hides everything around the page so you can read without distraction, and “Exit focus mode” brings it back. If you’d like a still page, turn off “Motion” in the reading bar, and transitions come to rest across the whole app.
Tap any ayah or its number to open its tafsir — Al-Muyassar, Ibn Kathir or Al-Tabari — and move from there to the previous or next ayah. When the app is in a language other than Arabic, a tab also shows the ayah’s translation in that language. Tafsir and translation need an internet connection.
If you reach the end of a surah while reading and stay there for a moment, it counts as read to the end and shows up in “Completed surahs” in “My journey”.
Recitation
Before you start: open “Recite” in the middle of the bar, and choose a surah from the list or search for it, or press “Resume last surah”. The mushaf page you’ll recite from then appears.
You don’t need to pick the ayahs: start anywhere in the surah — the app works out where you are from your first words — and carry on from there. You may begin with the isti‘adha and the Basmala and they won’t be counted against you, except in Al-Fatiha, where the Basmala is the first ayah and does count.
To recite from memory, turn on the “Hide” switch above the page: the words stay hidden, and each word appears when you say it correctly.
There is no switch for keeping your voice: the audio of every session saved in “Sessions” is kept automatically, so you can go back to it, and your teacher in a circle, your institution and your guardian can hear it — your followers cannot. You can delete it whenever you like from “My recordings”.
Then press the microphone button. The first time on each visit, we ask you: “Enable camera and monitoring during recitation?” Answering is optional; we remember your answer for this visit only, and you can change it with the button that appears under the microphone. “Yes, record” turns on the camera and attention tracking and saves the session video for your teacher to review; “No, without camera” keeps them off. On an account supervised by a guardian, only the guardian’s consent counts.
After you press it, “Opening the microphone…” appears, then “Connecting live tracking…”; then start reciting. This takes a few seconds, a little longer on a slow connection.
While you recite: recite in a clear, continuous voice, the way you normally read. The words move along with you on the page, the page turns by itself when you reach its end, and you don’t press anything between ayahs. A small strip shows what the app is hearing from you, moment by moment.
Recitation only moves forward: if you skip a word or an ayah, tracking stops at the first thing you skipped and asks you for it. Going back to repeat what you’ve already said is fine and costs you nothing. If you stay silent for five seconds on a word, the stop panel opens on it, because a long silence is a sign of forgetting.
The stop panel: if you say something other than the expected word, or go silent on it, recitation pauses and a “Stop” panel appears with an alert tone. It shows the word before it after “After:”, its position, for example “Word 3 of ayah 5”, what the app heard from you after “heard:”, the number of your wrong attempts, and a ring counting the seconds. The expected word itself is not shown, because this is a test of memory.
The panel opens with a brief “get ready…” before the count begins; then say the word again, clearly. If you say it correctly you move on; if you say something else three times, or ten seconds go by, it counts as a mistake and recitation carries on after it.
If you see “not a Quran word” after “heard:”, the problem is in the hearing, not in you: say the word again clearly. The tone is part of the panel: it always comes with it and can’t be turned off, so you know you’ve been stopped.
Colors: the word whose turn it is is highlighted in gold (in “Hide” mode, a gold line under it), and the highlight gently breathes while it waits for you; the words after it are in the normal text color. Green is a word you have said. A wavy amber line under a word means we heard something that isn’t clear yet — it is not a verdict.
A solid amber line marks a word you were stopped on and then said correctly, so it isn’t deducted. Red is a word you were stopped on whose attempts or seconds ran out, and red alone is deducted.
Finishing: when you reach the last word of the surah, the session ends by itself. To finish earlier, press the stop button (the square in place of the microphone); “Checking your last words…” appears for a few moments before the microphone closes, and one last stop panel may open during that time.
The recording is then uploaded, transcribed and compared with the mushaf, and the report appears a few seconds later. Only what you recited is assessed, from the first word you said to the last.
If the camera is on, a small preview appears for five seconds so you can frame your face, then shrinks to a badge you can open with a tap. If you look away for a long time, or leave the page during the session, we gently remind you to come back, and your teacher sees this in the session review.
Your score and report
After every session its report appears: overall accuracy, the ayahs that were assessed, correct words and mistakes, then a breakdown of each ayah: “Excellent” from 95% up, “Good” from 80%, and “Needs review” below that.
The score starts at a hundred, and each red word takes off five points (in a short passage of fewer than twenty words, each word takes off its share of the passage). “How your score was worked out” shows you the whole calculation so you can check it yourself.
Counted mistakes come in three kinds, all deducted equally: “close — one letter”, “a different word” and “never said”. Each mistake shows what you said and what is in the mushaf, so you know where it falls in the ayah.
What is never deducted: “Words you said again” (you were stopped on them and then said them correctly), extra words, and repeated words. They are shown so you know where you hesitated, and they don’t lower your score.
“Places we could not make out”: words where the transcript of the full recording heard something other than the mushaf’s word, but live tracking didn’t stop you on them during the session, so they weren’t counted against you. The word that was heard is shown with each one, so listen back to yourself and make sure.
In a session where live tracking follows you, only what you saw turn red in front of you is deducted. If live tracking didn’t work in your browser, the full analysis after the session decides the mistakes.
At the bottom of the report: “New session”, “Download report” as a PDF file, “Share” the report, WhatsApp, and “Copy” its summary. If the session video was saved, you can watch and download it here, and here too is “Delete this session’s recording” to delete its saved audio.
If the analysis fails, “Couldn't compute a score” appears with “Analyze again”, which reruns it on the same recording without you having to recite again. If no sound was heard at all, “No recitation detected” appears, and nothing is counted or saved.
Your sessions are saved in “My journey” → “Sessions”, newest first; open any of them to see its report, listen to its saved recording, and read your teacher’s review if they reviewed it. If your teacher adjusted your score, that shows on the session.
Position test
A test like the ones in competitions. Open “Position test” from “More”, or “Start a test” from the “Recite” page for your surah, then choose your range of juz or surahs, the number of positions and a name for the test, and press “Start the draw”.
The draw picks random positions from your range, and the app tells you how many positions the range has room for. In a small range, positions may fall close together.
At each position you see the start of the ayah after “Continue from:”; press “Start reciting” and carry on from there to the end of the page, with the text hidden. The stop panel works here just as it does in recitation.
When you reach the end of the position, an “Enough” card appears with a tone; its result is saved and you move on to the next position. No position’s score is shown until you’ve finished them all, just as in a real competition.
Each position is scored out of a hundred: the score drops with every red word, as in the report, and by each word’s share for the words you didn’t reach if you stopped before the end of the page. The final result is the average of the positions: “Excellent” from 95, “Very good” from 85, “Good” from 70, and “Needs review” below that.
If a position can’t be scored, you have three options: “Analyze again” on the same recording, “Recite this position again”, or “Count it as zero” and move on to the next one.
All your tests are in “My tests”: finish an unfinished one with “Continue”, retake the same positions with “Retry the same positions”, start a “New test”, or delete a test. Test audio is never saved, and tests don’t go into “Sessions” or your plans.
Listening
Open “Listen” from the bar and choose a surah and then its reciter, or start from a reciter you love and browse their surahs; you can also search for a reciter by name. “Listen” shows what you were listening to, so you can pick up where you left off.
On the player screen: play and pause, previous and next ayah, previous and next surah, and a bar to move through the recitation. In “Controls” you set the volume or mute it, and your choice is kept for next time.
There are four ways to listen: “Scenes” from nature; “With text”, which shows the whole surah with the ayah being recited highlighted (tap an ayah to move the recitation to it); “Ayah by ayah”, a card for the current ayah alone; and “No text, no scenes” for a still screen. If ayah timings aren’t available for a recitation, you hear it without text.
Playback carries on as you move around the app: a small bar at the bottom of the screen has play, next ayah and close, and tapping it opens the full player screen.
The scenes are real, silent nature clips for reflection that change by themselves, with “Another scene” and “Scene credits”. They load in lighter quality on phones and on mobile data, and you can turn them off in “Controls”.
My plan, my journey and my mistakes
In “My plan” (under “More”) you set up a plan that spreads the work over your days. Press “New plan” and choose its type: “New memorization”, “Review” or “Consolidation”.
Then choose its scope — “Selected surahs”, “Juz”, “Page range”, “Ayah range” or “Full Quran” — how many minutes a day (from five to two hundred and forty), your level, and a name for it if you like.
Each plan has a tab in its own color, and you can have up to eight active plans at once. “Archive” takes a plan out of the tabs, and nothing in it gets completed until you restore it.
A plan shows the tasks for “Today” and the full schedule. When you recite what a task asks for, it is marked done by itself, in every active plan that asks for it, and a review counts for its own day, not before. You can also mark a task done yourself, and “Reschedule missed work” moves overdue tasks to the coming days.
Your teacher or guardian can add a plan for you; it appears alongside your own plans without touching them.
“My journey” is your home page. “Overview” shows your memorized ayahs, completed surahs, number of sessions, average accuracy and streak days, along with your invitations, assignments, announcements and ranking. “Activity” has a calendar of a year of recitation, day by day, and “Sessions” holds all your sessions.
“Mistakes” lists the words you got wrong more than once, as counted by the report, most frequent first. Go over them, and press “Resolved” once you’ve mastered a word.
“Review” lists the surahs due for review: completed ones after about a week, ones you’re still memorizing after three days, the longest-neglected first. “New khatma” resets your completed surahs so you can start a new khatma; your session history and statistics stay as they are.
Reminders
In “Profile” → “Smart reminders” you add a reminder: its type (daily memorization, review, recitation session, assignments, encouragement, or come-back reminder), its time, its days, and your time zone.
A “Come-back reminder” isn’t sent if you’ve recited in the last two days, and “Encouragement” is sent only if you’ve recited in the last twenty-four hours.
Set “Quiet hours” if you like: a reminder that falls within them is held back until they end.
Reminders always reach you in “Notifications” inside the app (the bell at the top of the page), and by email too if you choose the “Email” channel. “Notifications” also holds your invitations, assignments, approvals and your teacher’s announcements. Push notifications on your phone outside the app aren’t available yet.
Teacher
The “Teacher” panel has five tabs: “My students”, “Submissions”, “Circles”, “Ranking” and “Join”.
In “My students”, add a student by email: someone who already has an account gets an invitation and becomes your student once they accept it; for someone without an account, enter their name as well, and we create an account for them and email them a code to set their password and activate their account.
For each student you can open their sessions, give them an assignment, and set them a plan that is added to their “My plan”, alongside their own plans without touching them.
In “Circles”, create a circle that groups your students, then give an assignment to the whole circle at once, and it reaches every active student in it. An assignment has a type (memorize, review, or fix errors) and an optional due date, after which it counts as late.
A student hands in an assignment with a recitation session of their choice, or without one; you get a notification and it appears in “Submissions”: “Approve” closes the assignment, and “Return to student” tells them it needs redoing, and it stays in “Sent back” until you assign it again.
You can also review any session: you see its results ayah by ayah, attention alerts and times the page was left, and you can listen to its saved audio, and watch the video if you’ve been given permission. Then write your note, rate it with stars, adjust its score if needed (the original stays visible), or mark the surah as memorized. The student sees your review on their session.
From “Announcement to your students”, send a message or a reminder (such as “Trip tomorrow” or “Don’t forget the homework”) that reaches the notifications of your active students, or of a single circle. “Ranking” combines seventy percent of a student’s average accuracy with thirty percent of your average rating of them.
In “Join”, search for your institution by name and send a join request for its administrators to review, or accept an invitation it sent you. If you leave an institution, its students are no longer your students, and your circles there stay without a teacher until they’re handed over to someone else.
When you add your first student or circle, a private space is created for you. If you have a real institution, press “Register your institution” to turn your space into an institution with its name and type; your circles, students and their assignments move over with it.
Institution
The “Institution” panel is for anyone who created an institution, runs one or teaches in one, and what you see in it depends on your role there. Its tabs: “Overview”, “Teachers”, “Students”, “Assignments”, “Circles” and “Administrators”. “Teachers” and “Administrators” are only for those who run the institution.
In “Teachers”, invite a teacher by their account email; they don’t become a teacher there until they accept. It also holds “Teacher join requests” from teachers who asked to join: if you accept, they become a teacher there. You can suspend a teacher — their circles and students return to them when you reactivate them — or remove them, and their students and circles stay without a teacher until you assign them to someone else.
In “Students”, add a student: their email, their teacher, their circle, their name if they don’t have an account, and their guardian’s email if you wish. They get an invitation and don’t join until they accept; for someone without an account, we create one and send them a code to activate it.
If you enter a guardian’s email, we suggest it to the student first, and the invitation doesn’t reach the guardian until the student confirms it. The membership of a student who has a guardian waits for the guardian’s approval, and the student’s figures don’t show until then.
You can suspend a student, so their teacher doesn’t see them and nothing is assigned to them until you bring them back, or remove them from the institution, and their account and sessions remain theirs.
In “Circles”, create a circle and choose the teacher in charge, and delete it whenever you like; its students stay in the institution without a circle. “Assignments” holds all of the institution’s assignments: you publish them, approve them, return them to the student, or assign them again.
“Overview” shows the institution’s figures and student activity, and from there you open pending assignments. In “Administrators”, invite someone to run it with you by their account email; their permissions don’t start until they accept. And in “Institution name” you change its name, and the new name shows for its students and teachers.
Family and consents
The “Family” page is for guardians. Any account that isn’t itself under someone’s supervision can add its children there, up to ten children.
Press “Add child” and choose: “Create new account” with their name, email and a password for them, accepting the Privacy Policy on their behalf; or “Link existing account” with its email and password. Your child is told who has become their guardian.
A teacher or institution may also suggest you as a student’s guardian: if the student confirms it, you receive an email with an invitation link valid for fourteen days. Open it, sign in with the account the email was sent to or create an account with that same email, then accept the invitation.
Your child’s consents are yours to give: camera, recording for review, attention tracking, and how long their recordings are kept (a week, a month, three months, six months, or a year). All of them are off until you turn them on, and anything the child turned on themselves doesn’t count.
Your child can turn off what you agreed to or shorten the period, but can’t turn anything on or lengthen it. Their profile always stays private.
Every circle or follow request your child accepts shows up for you in “Waiting for your approval”, and doesn’t start until you approve; your approval is what lets the teacher see their sessions and plans, and lets a circle teacher hear their saved session audio — a follower does not hear it. You can end any ongoing circle or follow whenever you like.
From each child’s card you see their sessions, accuracy, what they have memorized, completed surahs, repeated mistakes and plans, and you can listen to their saved recordings.
“Unlink” takes the account out of your family without deleting it: the account and its history remain, you no longer see its sessions, and anything that was waiting for your approval goes back to your child to decide. To bring it back, you need its email and password.
Account sharing
“Account sharing” (under “More”) lets a teacher you trust see your progress, read-only — or, if you’re a teacher, lets you follow a student who shares their progress with you. It isn’t how students are managed: circles and assignments belong in “My circle” and in the Teacher and Institution panels.
Press “Invite my teacher” and enter their email, or “Invite my student” if you’re a teacher. Sharing only starts once both sides have accepted. If they don’t have an account yet, the invitation waits for them to sign up, and then we ask you to confirm that they are your teacher.
The follower is a teacher or a member of an educational organization. They see your sessions and their details (mistakes and your teachers’ reviews), your repeated mistakes, and your plans without being able to change them; they never hear your recordings or see video. They never see your password.
End the follow whenever you like with “End the follow”, and their access stops immediately. To start again, you need a new invitation that the other side accepts.
If your invitation is declined, no new invitation can be sent to the same account for seven days. You can have up to ten invitations waiting for their recipients to sign up. An invitation may be recorded without an email if the person got an email from us recently; they’ll find it on the site.
If your account has a guardian, no follow starts without their approval, and they can end it. And if the teacher is already your teacher in a circle, there’s no need for a follow: they see your progress from there.
Competitions
“Competitions” (under “More”) lists current, upcoming and finished competitions, each with its surahs, ayahs and dates, and some with prizes. Competitions are created by the platform administrator.
Press “View & compete”, then “Start reciting”. You recite all of the competition’s ayahs in one continuous run with the text hidden: each word appears when you say it correctly, and the stop panel stops you at a mistake, just as in recitation.
Your best result on each ayah counts, and your overall result on the “Leaderboard” is built from these. You can recite again to improve your result. Competition audio is never saved.
Some competitions are for citizens of a particular country, because their prize is paid into a bank account in that country. Your country is read from your account and stays on your entry as it was on the day you first joined the competition.
On the leaderboard, each participant appears with their rank, country and result, and “Anonymous reciter” replaces the name of anyone whose profile is private. The “Hall of Fame” shows the winners of past competitions.
Privacy and your recordings
The microphone works only in recitation, position tests and competitions, from the start of the session to its end, and never in reading or listening.
During the session your voice is sent to OpenAI to be turned into text, which we use to follow your words and assess your recitation; your name and email are not sent to it. If that isn’t possible in your browser, the browser’s built-in speech recognition is used instead.
The audio of every recitation session saved in “Sessions” is kept automatically, with no switch, and can be heard by you, your teacher in a circle, the owner and supervisors of your institution, your guardian and the platform administrator — not by a teacher who only follows you. Video is kept only with your consent to the camera and recording for your teacher to review. Nothing is saved from position tests or competitions.
Saved recordings are deleted automatically once the retention period is over: ninety days unless you choose otherwise — a week, a month, six months or a year.
In “Profile” → “Camera & recording privacy” you turn the camera, recording for review and attention tracking on or off, choose the retention period, listen to or delete “My recordings”, and see in “Access history” who opened each recording, and when.
The camera is optional and off unless you turn it on, and gaze detection runs on your device alone: the only thing sent from it is how many times your gaze wandered, and for how long.
Your public profile is visible by default: your name, country, what you’ve memorized, your number of sessions and their average accuracy; make it private in “Profile” → “Privacy”. The profile of a supervised account is always private. All the details are in the Privacy Policy.
“Profile” shows your account details: your name, email, country and the date you joined. They can’t be edited in the app; if you need something corrected, write to us from “Help”.
In “Preferences” you choose the appearance (light or dark mode) and the app language, from seven: Arabic, English, French, Turkish, Indonesian, Persian and Urdu.
Change your password in “Change password” with your current password and a new one of at least eight characters. If you’ve forgotten it, choose “Forgot password?” on the sign-in page: you’ll receive a six-digit code, valid for fifteen minutes, which you enter together with your new password.
“Remember me on this device” at sign-in keeps you signed in after the browser is closed, so don’t turn it on for a device other people use. “Log out” in “Profile” signs you out of your account.
Deleting your account from the “Danger Zone” with your password is final: your data, sessions, progress and recordings are deleted, and it can’t be undone. If you have children in “Family”, they are unlinked and told about it, and their accounts stay theirs.
For questions and feedback, open “Help” from “More”: choose the category and write your message, and the reply comes to your email from our support address, not inside the app. Each account can send five messages a day.
Installing the app
Install Itqan114 on your phone or computer, and it opens from its icon in its own window, without the browser bar and without an app store. When you open the site, Itqan114 asks whether you want to install it.
On Android and on computers (Chrome or Edge): press “Install the app” in that question, here or on the home page, or choose to install the app from the browser menu. The button doesn’t appear if the app is already installed, or if the browser doesn’t offer installation.
On iPhone and iPad (Safari): tap the Share button in the browser bar (on iOS 26, tap ⋯ first, then “Share”), then “Add to Home Screen”; keep “Open as Web App” on if it appears, then tap “Add”.
The installed app is the same site with the same account, and it asks for the same permissions: the microphone for recitation, and the camera if you turn it on. It needs the internet for recitation, listening, tafsir and saving your results.
When we publish a new version, “A new version of Itqan114 is ready” appears with “Update” and “Later”. It doesn’t appear during recitation, a test or a competition, and nothing reloads until you press “Update”.
Troubleshooting
Pick what’s happening to you: each problem comes with its cause, what to do, and when to write to us. The “Contact support” button under each one opens a message to us with the place of the problem already filled in; if you’re not signed in, it opens your email app with a ready-made message.
The microphone is blocked or not working
Why
A message about the microphone appeared because its permission was denied in the browser, no microphone was found, another app is using it, or the site was opened over an insecure connection (an address that doesn’t start with https).
What to do
Click the lock or settings icon next to the address, allow the microphone, then reload the page. On a phone, also make sure the browser is allowed to use the microphone in the device settings. Close anything using the microphone (such as Zoom, Teams or an ongoing call), and make sure the right microphone is selected and that the address starts with https.
When to contact us
If you allowed the permission and reloaded, and recording still won’t start, write to us with the names of your device and browser and the text of the message you saw.
The words don’t move forward while I recite
Why
You may have recited from a place other than the one on screen; or skipped a word or an ayah, so tracking stopped at the first thing you skipped; or your connection weakened and the words lagged behind; or your browser doesn’t support live tracking.
What to do
Keep reciting for a little while in a clear voice, close to the microphone — the app works out where you are from your first words. If you skipped something, go back to the word highlighted in gold and carry on from there. If the stop panel appears, say the word again. If you’re told that live tracking isn’t supported, or that the live engine dropped, finish your recitation anyway: the correction happens after the session. Next time, try the latest version of Chrome.
When to contact us
If the words stay stuck in the latest Chrome and your connection is good, write to us with the surah name, the ayah and the time of the session.
“No recitation detected”: we didn’t hear you
Why
No sound reached us from the microphone during the whole session, and we didn’t recognize enough words: the microphone was muted, a different input device was selected, it cut out during the session, or your voice was very quiet.
What to do
Make sure the microphone isn’t muted and is the one selected in your device settings, test it in another app, then press “New session” and recite out loud. Nothing from that session was counted against you, and it wasn’t saved. In a position test, a silent position scores zero and is marked “Nothing was heard”; you can retake the same positions from the test result.
When to contact us
If it keeps happening with a microphone that works outside Itqan114, write to us with the names of your device and browser.
“Couldn't compute a score” appears
Why
The analysis of your recitation after the session didn’t finish: the connection dropped while the recording was uploading, or the speech-to-text service didn’t respond in time. Some ayahs may be analyzed and others not, and the report then says that the result covers only the part that was analyzed.
What to do
Check your connection, then press “Analyze again”: the analysis runs again on the same recording, so you don’t need to recite again. If the button doesn’t appear, press “New session”. In a position test, choose “Analyze again”, “Recite this position again” or “Count it as zero”. A session whose result couldn’t be worked out isn’t saved in “Sessions”.
When to contact us
If it fails twice and your connection is good, press “Contact support” under the message and mention the time of the session and the surah name.
The internet connection dropped
Why
Itqan114 needs a connection to show the mushaf, follow your recitation, analyze it, save your results, and run listening and tafsir. If it drops, “We couldn’t reach the server” appears, or the “Can’t reach Itqan114” page.
What to do
Check your network or mobile data, then press “Try again”; the offline page goes away by itself when the connection comes back. If it dropped during a recitation, wait for the report: if it can’t be worked out, press “Analyze again” once you’re back online, or start a new session.
When to contact us
If other sites work but Itqan114’s pages still won’t load, write to us.
“A new version of Itqan114 is ready” appears
Why
We published an update, and the page you have open is from the previous version.
What to do
Press “Update” when you’ve finished what you’re doing, and the new version loads; or press “Later” to carry on. The notice doesn’t appear during recitation, a test or a competition, and nothing reloads until you press “Update”. If a page behaves oddly after the update, close the app and open it again.
When to contact us
If the notice keeps coming back after updating, or a page breaks after it, write to us.
“Too many sign-in attempts” appears
Why
A wrong password was entered ten times within fifteen minutes for this email from the same network, so we paused attempts for a while to protect your account. Successful sign-ins don’t count. With higher limits, we also count wrong attempts on the same email from many places (fifty), and from one network on many addresses (three hundred).
What to do
Wait fifteen minutes, then try once, carefully: check the email address, the keyboard language and caps lock, and press the eye icon to see what you typed. If you can’t remember the password, don’t keep guessing — choose “Forgot password?”. If many of you share one network, such as at a school, one person’s mistakes don’t block anyone else from signing in.
When to contact us
If you still can’t sign in after waiting and setting a new password, write to us from your account’s email address.
The reset code doesn’t arrive
Why
We only send the code to an email address that has an account with us, and we don’t say whether an address is registered or not. So the address may be typed differently from the one you signed up with, the message may have gone to spam, or it may be a few minutes late. Each address can make three requests per fifteen minutes.
What to do
Look in all your mail folders, including spam, for a message from noreply@itqan114.com, check the address letter by letter, then press “Resend code”. Only the latest code you received is valid, for fifteen minutes, and you have five tries to enter it before you need a new one. If your teacher created your account, the first code is in the email you got when it was created, and you can request another from “Forgot password?”.
When to contact us
If the code still doesn’t arrive after that, write to us from that same email address.
The “Our Privacy Policy has changed” window won’t close
Why
When we change the Privacy Policy, we ask every account to accept the new version once — and likewise an account that an institution created for you, the first time you sign in. It isn’t a notice you can dismiss, so it has no close button.
What to do
Press “Read the policy” to read it in full, then “I agree” to continue. If “Your agreement could not be saved” appears, check your connection and press “I agree” again. “Waiting for your guardian's approval” on a circle or a follow is something else: ask your guardian to approve it from the “Family” page.
When to contact us
If the window comes back after you’ve agreed, or your guardian can’t find the request in “Family”, write to us.
My audio recording or my session wasn’t saved
Why
The audio of every session saved in “Sessions” is kept automatically and uploaded after the report appears; if the connection drops before the upload finishes, the audio isn’t saved. Nothing is saved in position tests or competitions, and a session in which no sound was heard, or whose result couldn’t be worked out, isn’t saved. What was saved may also have been deleted automatically after the retention period, or by you or your guardian.
What to do
Stay connected until the full report appears, and don’t leave it the moment it does: the audio is uploaded after it. If “Your recitation audio could not be saved” appears, your score and report are saved and only the audio wasn’t. If the connection drops at the moment of saving, the session may not appear in “Sessions”, so download its PDF report before leaving it. You’ll find what was saved in “Profile” → “My recordings”, and on each session’s page.
When to contact us
If the connection was good and the session appears in “Sessions” but its audio wasn’t saved, write to us with the time of the session and the surah name.
The camera doesn’t work
Why
Camera permission was denied in the browser, another app is using it, the device has no camera, or it cut out during the session. On a supervised account, the camera and video recording follow the guardian’s consent.
What to do
The camera is optional, and recitation works without it. To turn it on, press the button under the microphone (“Camera off for this visit — change”) and the question comes back; allow the camera from the lock icon next to the address, close anything using it, then reload the page.
When to contact us
If you allowed it and it still doesn’t work, write to us with the names of your device and browser and the text of the message you saw.
“Page not found” appears
Why
The address you opened doesn’t exist: it has a typo in it, or it’s an old link to a page that was moved or deleted.
What to do
Check the address, go back to the previous page, or press “Back to home” and navigate from the bar.
When to contact us
If you got there from a link inside Itqan114 or from an email we sent you, write to us with where the link was so we can fix it.
“This page couldn't be shown” appears
Why
An unexpected error happened while showing the page. The fault is on our side, not in your device.
What to do
Press “Reload the page”, or go to another page from the bar and then come back — simply moving away clears the message. If it happened after a new version was published, reload so the app picks up the whole new version.
When to contact us
If it keeps happening on the same page, press “Contact support” under the message: your message will include where the error happened, the page and the version number, so we can fix it faster.
The app is slow
Why
What slows it down most: a weak connection, a device in power-saving mode or low on battery, lots of open pages and apps, or an old browser. Recitation is the heaviest part of the app, especially with the camera on.
What to do
Close pages and apps you don’t need, charge your device or turn off power saving, and update your browser. Turn off “Motion” in the reading bar so transitions stay still, answer “No, without camera” in recitation if you don’t need the camera, and in listening choose “No text, no scenes” on less powerful devices.
When to contact us
If it stays slow with a good connection, write to us with the page name, your device and your browser.
