Itqan114

Itqan114 for teachers, institutions and parents

Itqan (Itqan114) is a free web app for memorizing the Quran and reciting it, which follows the student word by word as they recite from memory. This page is for the circle teacher; for the Quran school, centre or association; and for the parent who follows their children: what each of them does in Itqan114, and what they can and cannot see.

Teachers

Sign up as a “Teacher” and you get the teacher dashboard with five tabs: “My students”, “Submissions”, “Circles”, “Ranking” and “Join”. Add a student by email: someone who already has an account receives an invitation and becomes your student once they accept; for someone without one, we create an account and email them a code to set their password.

Group your students into circles, and give an assignment to one student or to a whole circle at once — memorization, review or correcting mistakes — with a due date. The student submits it with or without a recitation session, and you approve it or send it back. You can also send an announcement that reaches your students’ notifications, or just one circle.

Review any session: its results ayah by ayah and its mistakes, attention and page-leave alerts, its saved audio, and its video if you were allowed it. Then write your note, give it a star rating, and adjust its score if needed while the original stays visible. “Ranking” orders your students by 70% of their average accuracy and 30% of your average rating.

A teacher cannot see a student who has not accepted their invitation, nor the student’s password. A teacher who only follows a student sees their sessions and plans, but does not hear their voice or see video. And if the student has a parent, the circle does not start until the parent consents.

Institutions

Create your institution with its name and type: school, centre, association, independent or circle. Then invite your teachers, and the people who manage it with you under “Administrators”, by the email of each one’s account; no one’s role begins until they accept. A teacher can also search for your institution by name and ask to join, and you accept or decline.

Create circles and choose a teacher for each, then add students with their teacher, their circle and, if you like, their parent’s email. “Overview” shows the institution’s figures and its students’ activity, “Assignments” lists all its assignments, and you also get recitation reports and announcements that reach everyone. You can suspend a teacher or a student, or remove a student — their account and sessions remain theirs.

Parents

From the “Family” page a parent adds their children, up to ten: they create an account for each child and accept the privacy policy on the child’s behalf, or link the child’s existing account. A teacher or an institution may also propose someone as a student’s parent; the invitation reaches them once the student confirms it.

The consents belong to the parent: camera, recording for review, attention tracking, and how long recordings are kept; all are off until the parent turns them on. The child can turn off what the parent allowed or shorten the retention, but not extend it. Any circle or follow the child accepts waits for the parent’s consent (approving a circle lets its teacher hear the child’s saved session audio), and from the child’s card the parent sees their sessions, accuracy, recurring mistakes, plans and kept recordings.

Student privacy

The microphone works only in reciting, position tests and competitions; recitation-session audio is kept for the student, their circle teacher and their parent, no video is kept without permission, and a kept recording deletes itself when its retention period ends; and a supervised student’s profile is always private. The details are in the privacy policy.

Teachers’ questions

Can a teacher listen to their students’ recordings?

Yes: a circle teacher hears the audio of every saved recitation session of their students, and sees a session’s video if it was kept with permission for recording for review. A teacher who only follows a student does not hear their voice or see video. What a student kept with “Keep an audio recording of my recitation” before audio keeping became automatic stays private to them: they, their parent and the platform administrator hear it, not their teacher.

Can I create my students’ accounts myself?

Yes. Add the student with their email and name, and we create an account for them; they receive an email with a code, valid for fifteen minutes, to set their password, then they log in and accept the invitation.

Does Itqan114 correct tajweed in place of the teacher?

No. Itqan114 follows the words — which were said correctly, which were said differently and which were left out — and does not judge the rules of tajweed or the vowel marks. Tajweed and the quality of recitation remain the teacher’s domain.

How does a teacher join an institution?

Either the institution invites them by the email of their account and they accept the invitation, or they search for it by name under “Join” and send a request for its administrators to review.

Do circles or students pay any fees?

No. Itqan114 is free, with no subscription and no payment.
